On Miller Day, Bon Jovi's livin' on a beer

Concert marks brewery's 150th

It's Miller Time at Miller Park.

For today there will be no home team and no baseball at all. Instead, there will be a party on the infield, a popular band performing in the outfield - and all 35,000 tickets to the show will have been given out for free.

Of course, the beer will still be flowing. This is the 150th birthday celebration for Miller Brewing Co., officially titled "The Big Brew-Ha!" but better known around town as "the Bon Jovi concert."

World Music Awards

Carey, Ross Lead World Music Awards Lineup

By Barry A. Jeckell, N.Y.

Mariah Carey, Destiny's Child and Diana Ross are the first confirmed performers for the 2005 World Music Awards. Bon Jovi and Carlos Santana, who will be honored with special awards, will also perform during the Aug. 31 show. A two-hour taped stateside broadcast is scheduled for Sept. 13 on ABC; 160 countries will air the event.
The ceremony will be staged at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, marking the second time the event has taken place in the United States since it was inaugurated in 1989. Last year's ceremony was held in Las Vegas.

Winners of the World Music Awards are determined by sales figures as certified by the European-based International Federation of the Phonography Industry (IFPI).
The event benefits the Monaco Aide and Presence Foundation, which constructs orphanages, schools and hospitals for underprivileged children in third world countries. Among the projects underway is a clinic and orphanage in Cameroon.

Yeah baby, my mum rocks!

heatherlocklear_family_narrowweb.jpg

Heather Locklear, wife of Bon Jovi star Richie Sambora and mother of eight-year-old Ava Elizabeth (and who, coincidentally, made a movie called Rock'n'Roll Mom in 1988), used to party hard when she was dating Motley Crue bad boy Tommy Lee but now loves family time. She lives near her parents and they visit their granddaughter often.
Like Locklear, Hudson and Paltrow are close to their parents. And this, says MotherInc director Claudia Keech, probably influences their maternal style more than their rock star partners do.
