NEW YORK, July 6 /PRNewswire/ -- FASHION ROCKS(TM) returns for a third time with a live concert on September 7, 2006 at New York's Radio City Music Hall. A collision of style and sound, the star-studded fashion and music spectacular will kick off Fashion Week with a nationally televised special celebrating the relationship between fashion and music to air on the CBS Television Network, Friday, September 8, 2006 (9:00-11:00, ET/PT); Proceeds from the show will benefit the Elton John AIDS foundation.
Music and style icon Elton John joins the production as curator; bringing his inimitable sense of fashion and legendary musical genius to the show with unexpected artist pairings and an homage to classic songs by today's freshest talent.
"We are delighted to have Elton curating the show," said Richard D. Beckman, president of Conde Nast Media Group and an executive producer of the evening's production. "He's always been an outrageous fashion icon and one of the greatest musical artists of all time. He's the epitome of what the show's all about."
The concert also boasts performances by Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, Bon Jovi, The Black Eyed Peas, Daddy Yankee, Jamie Foxx, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Nelly Furtado, The Pussycat Dolls, Rihanna, Scissor Sisters and Kanye West, along with other top recording artists.
Fashion industry powerhouse KCD, known for its work with designers such as Calvin Klein, Versace and Marc Jacobs, will produce fashion segments for the show; pairing the height of design with the world's hottest models in sizzling presentations full of surprises.
"Fashion and music have always been inextricably linked," said Beckman. "People will never forget the day the Beatles walked off the plane; David Bowie as Ziggy Stardust, John Travolta strutting in Saturday Night Fever or Madonna as the "material girl." You can't think about Hip-Hop without visualizing its style along with the beat. Today, the worlds of fashion and music are merging faster then ever, with multiple artists including Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z, capitalizing on this synergy by launching fashion lines of their own. Fashion Rocks(TM) celebrates this unique marriage and promises to be one of the most exciting shows of the year."
Executive producers of Fashion Rocks are Anthony Eaton, executive director and president of Tall Pony Productions and Richard D. Beckman, president of Conde Nast Media Group. Anthony Eaton has produced videos that have won GRAMMY(R) Awards, Cable Aces, NAACP Awards, and numerous film festival honors.
