Musicnotes signs pact with Sony/ATV

Digital sheet music provider Musicnotes.com said Friday that it has signed a long-term distribution agreement with Sony/ATV Music Publishing, publisher of such artists as The Beatles, Stevie Nicks, Richie Sambora and Gretchen Wilson.

Under the agreement, Musicnotes.com, Madison, will produce and sell digital sheet music and guitar tablature for songs from throughout Sony/ATV's extensive catalog.

"As a music publisher, we are always looking for new and innovative ways to promote our songs and songwriters," said Sony/ATV chairman and chief executive David Hockman said in a statement.

As a result of the agreement, the Musicnotes.com web site will offer digital sheet music downloads for songs from Santa Monica, Calif.-based Sony/ATV's impressive roster of songwriters. This sheet music includes songs written by Beck, Sarah McLachlan, Oasis and Fall Out Boy.

Musicnotes will also be offering guitarists a selection of interactive lessons for Sony/ATV's songs in Musicnotes's Guitar Guru Sessions format.
