Reports are surfacing as to why actress Heather Locklear decided to slap her rocker husband Richie Sambora with divorce papers this week.

People reports that Locklear found a suggestive e-mail that was sent to Sambora from an acquaintance of the couple who had become 'a sore subject' in their marriage an insider source tells the magazine.

A good friend of the couple said Locklear found "provocative pictures" of the female in the e-mail.

"She's devastated," the friend continued. "Absolutely devastated."

Sambora, who was on tour with his band Bon Jovi when the divorce announcement was made, is reportedly just as shocked by the photos. "Richie's saying nothing ever happened, that he never asked for the pictures., a friend says.

"It's absolutely not true that they had an affair," says another friend. They added that neither the photos or the e-mail were the cause of the sudden split.

The couple, who have one daughter, Ava, 8, were thought to have a solid relationship. Friend and music journalist Lonn Friend told the magazine, "I thought they were the perfect couple."

"He'd sown some wild oats in his day," but since meeting Locklear Friend continued, he was nothing but "a family man."

No matter what the reason, sadly, another famous couple has apparently bit the dust.
