My six top albums

By Richie Sambora

RICHIE Sambora, 49, plays guitar with Bon Jovi, who have sold more than 100 million albums.

Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble: Texas Flood
(Sony)
Stevie is one of my greatest influences as a guitar player. I started out playing blues guitar like Stevie, he just inspires me. And this is just one awesome album.

Jimi Hendrix: Are You Experienced?
(Island)
I wanted to be Jimi when I was growing up. Talk about a unique talent, he took that blues influence to so many places. He’s, quite simply, the man.

Rolling Stones: Let It Bleed
(Decca)
The y were the band every aspiring rock group wanted to be and Let It Bleed is their finest moment . Our most recent album Lost Highway moulds country influences into rock and the Stones were among the first to do that on Let It Bleed.

The Beatles: Abbey Road
(EMI)
If I had to choose a favourite Beatles album it would be this but I love all their stuff. I’ve always loved George Martin’s production and we got to know him, picking up tips for our own albums.

Bob Dylan: The Essential Bob Dylan
(Sony)
I might be a fan of British music but Bob Dylan has been a huge influence on both Jon and me. Lyrically, you can find Dylan’s echoes throughout our work and there are often Dylan references in our records.

Led Zeppelin: Led Zeppelin
(Atlantic)
Obviously Jimmy Page is a hero of mine, being one of the greatest guitarists ever. When we first became successful some very cool people wanted to meet us, including Jimmy. We always got them to play with us and playing with Jimmy was just the biggest thrill.
