Tribeca fest to screen Bon Jovi film

A DOCUMENTARY ABOUT BON JOVI will be featured as a work-in-progress at the Tribeca Film Festival, which begins Wednesday and runs through May 3 in downtown Manhattan.

Screenings of "Bon Jovi: When We Were Beautiful" are scheduled for 9:30 p.m. April 29 at BMCC Theatre; 199 Chambers St., and at 1:45 p.m. April 30 and 9:45 p.m. May 2 at AMC Village 7 Theatre, 66 Third Ave.
"Bon Jovi: When We Were Beautiful," directed by Phil Griffin, is set during the band's 2008 "Lost Highway" world tour, which ended with a free concert in Central Park and two sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden.

Griffin filmed the band members — singer/guitarist Jon Bon Jovi, keyboardist/singer David Bryan, guitarist/singer Richie Sambora and drummer Tico Torres — on the road and behind the scenes at concerts.

The makers of the documentary promise fans an honest and intimate look at the musicians.

In a news release, Griffin described his film as "not a neatly wrapped up bundle of staged interviews and musical interludes, but rather a series of open and sometimes difficult conversations, explored against a backdrop of music spanning 25 years."

"It is a film about the peace of Tico, the complexity of Richie, the drive of Jon and the brutal honesty of Dave," Griffin stated. "It is their willingness to share their stories that gives us what I hope is a very human story — that humanity is what I believe has seen this band stand the test of time."
