Sambora Wraps Up Stay in Treatment
Richie Sambora apparently didn't need 30 days to cure what ailed him.
A week after checking in, the Bon Jovi guitarist has checked out of a Los Angeles treatment facility, a rep for the band confirmed to E! News.
"Richie Sambora has completed a program at the UCLA Medical Center. He is doing well and continues to receive outside support," the rep said.
It's unclear what the 47-year-old rocker was being treated for, but those close to him agreed that he had been having an extremely rough year and was finally taking time out to get help.
In a span of a few months, Sambora's father died of lung cancer, he split with girlfriend Denise Richards and his divorce from Heather Locklear was finalized. The duo were married for 11 years before the Melrose Place star filed for divorce in February 2006.
"I think this was a culmination of all these things and finally he realized he needed to take care of himself," a friend of Sambora's told People. "He'd put off everything for so long, taking care of everyone else, it was just time to stop and deal with his issues."
Now that Sambora has been given the all-clear, here's hoping he's up to performing next Tuesday on the Today show to promote Bon Jovi's latest album, the rock-country hybrid Lost Highway, which drops the same day, and again on The View the following day. They'll be rockin' out on Ellen, as well, on June 28.
After that, the "Livin' on a Prayer" purveyors are off to Europe, where they'll kick off a handful of concert dates June 24 in London. A full-fledged world tour isn't on tap until 2008.
Meanwhile, the edition of MTV Unplugged that, according to witnesses at last Tuesday's taping, featured Sambora struggling to make it through the acoustic set, will premiere on MTV June 22, and then be shown again on VH1 and CMT over the next two days.
