Richie Sambora enters rehab
Rock star Richie Sambora is the latest celebrity to enter rehab for treatment for alcoholism. A representative for the lead guitarist for the rock band 'Bon Jovi' has revealed the news, albeit without naming the clinic.
"Richie Sambora has entered an undisclosed treatment facility in Los Angeles. He asks that you respect he and his family's privacy at this time," Us Weekly quoted the representative as saying.
The magazine also reported that Richie was not being treated for drugs.
"It is not a typical 30-day rehab. This is just a treatment center to get his problem under control," said Richie's representative.
The report has confirmed that Richie is not at the Promises Rehab Center, where Lindsay Lohan is currently receiving counselling.
Richie's representative claims that he was not drunk at the band's taping of Unplugged on June 5.
"They had to do a few songs over, which is typical in any taping, but he was not wasted and that report is completely overblown," said the source.
An insider has revealed that the 47-year-old guitarist "is going through a hard time right now".
"His dad dying was not easy," said the source, adding that his divorce from Heather Locklear became final in April, and he split from girlfriend Denise Richards in March.
"It was a really tough year," added the source.
Sambora is expected to be discharged from the facility in time for the band's album release on June 19.
"The whole band is supporting him with this. He will be out and better to go back to work," said one source.
