Richards and Sambora called it quits in March
Actress Denise Richards and BonJovi's Richie Sambora called it quits in March this year, ending their year-old contentious relationship.
The actress' rep said that though they split up a couple of months ago, they are still close friends.
"They broke up two months ago, back in March, but they have remained close friends," Us Weekly quoted her, as saying.
As regarding the reason for the split, the rep said that it is 'timing that made them drift apart.
The rep added that Richards is very supportive of Sambora, as she
was with him when his father passed away
"She has remained very supportive to Richie and even flew to New York to support him after his father's passing," the rep said.
Richards relationship with Sambora was always mired in several controversies, for the guitarist was married to her close pal actress, Heather Locklear.
Richards filed for divorce from husband of three years, Charlie Sheen in 2005, and Sambora separated from Locklear in 2006.
When Richards got together with Sambora, rumours were afloat that he cheated on his wife, and Richards was accused of betraying her pal.
