Bon Jovi sell out first Dome gig

Rock group Bon Jovi's concert at the O2 arena sold out in less than 30 minutes, say organisers.

The band will be the first to play the concert venue, which was developed from London's Millennium Dome, on 24 June.

It is their only UK show this year, and fans jammed websites and phone lines as soon as tickets for the 23,000 capacity arena went on sale at 0900 on Friday.

Bon Jovi's hits include Livin' on a Prayer and Always. They have sold more than 120 million albums worldwide.

They were inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame last year, and are due to release their 10th studio album, Lost Highway, in June.

Clear view

The London gig will mark the first time the band have played a concert indoors for 15 years.

The O2 arena will then host concerts by Justin Timberlake, Scissor Sisters and the Rolling Stones.

The arena has undergone a £600m refit after years of speculation and argument over its future use.

The owners have said the acoustics have been designed specifically for modern musicians and every seat will have a clear view.

It will also host sporting events such as ice hockey and has already been chosen as the venue for gymnastics and basketball at the 2012 Olympic Games.
