"Kix Brooks Loses Big Stage, Plays At Tin Pan South"

Richie Sambora of Bon Jovi also played Thursday night at 12th & Porter in the same writers circle as Big Kenny from Big & Rich.

Famous author John Grisham hosted a Mississippi music show at the Ryman Auditorium Thursday night and several big music stars traded big stages for just a guitar and a bar stool as part of Tin Pan South .

Kix Brooks of country mega duo Brooks & Dunn was among them.

Brooks said he has been a songwriter longer than anything else. He said, "I love touring with Brooks & Dunn… that’s as exciting as I’ve ever done but before I met Ronnie, I wrote songs for a living… I hope they know it's Ronnie that throws the drumsticks… if they come here looking for that it could be a big disappointment for a lot of people."

Tin Pan South continues through the weekend. Singer Nick Lachey, Jessica Simpson's ex, might also turn up at one of the events.

In other entertainment news, Mississippi-born author John Grisham hosted a show, Mississippi at the Ryman, Thursday night to raise money for the Ole Miss Alumni Association.

Star Marty Stuart is from Mississippi. He said, “I was a big Ole Miss Rebel fan… course you have to complete high schoolto get to college and I never made past the stage of Nashville…”

Singer Amy Grant has a niece going to Ole Miss said she plans to visit campus real soon.
