Sambora / Locklear 59

Are RICHIE SAMBORA and estranged wife HEATHER LOCKLEAR bound for a reconciliation? It was just last week that ET obtained the musician's divorce papers filed in response to his wife's filing in early February, but after they were spotted together over the weekend, rumors of reunion have started to swirl. On tonight's ET, a relationship expert reveals what their friendly behavior could mean.

"There's no such thing as a good divorce, but there are better divorces and worse, and a better divorce is where the couples are communicating and getting along," CARYN STARK says. "It's so much better for the children."

She says that a divorce can be especially hard for children of celebrities. "You have cameras, you have people writing about you ... it's shameful," she says. "You don't want to be different when you're a kid. You want to be like all the other kids."

Heather and Richie were seen together in Thousand Oaks, CA cheering on their 8-year-old daughter AVA ELIZABETH at her softball game. Heather and Richie, who was wearing a sling on his left arm, were not only seen walking together, but even talking.

At one point, when she wasn't rooting on Ava, Heather approached Richie and gave him a few friendly taps on his backside and when the game was over, Heather gave Richie a kiss -- on the cheek -- goodbye. Although Stark has not treated the couple, she feels their cordial attitudes mean daughter Ava isn't caught in the middle.

"It's wonderful when they show up together when children have plays or karate or any kind of activity so they show support as a couple," she says. "So the fact that Heather Locklear and Richie Sambora are getting along is a wonderful thing."

Meanwhile, in Sambora's papers, filed in L.A. Superior Court on March 19, the rocker is seeking joint custody of the couple's young daughter. He also seeks to enforce their premarital agreement, which was dated Dec. 14, 1994, and would like to terminate the court's ability to award spousal support. Both stars cite "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split.

ET first broke the news in February that the BON JOVI rocker, 46, and the former "Melrose Place" and "Spin City" star, 44, were calling it quits after more than 11 years of marriage. Previous to Sambora's formal response, Sambora's attorney JACALYN DAVIS responded with a new action on Feb. 24, requesting a change of judge in the case. Court papers filed by Davis said that the judge assigned to the trial, MICHAEL I. LEVANAS, "is prejudiced against the party [Davis] or the interest of the party" so that Sambora "cannot have a fair and impartial trial or hearing." No other details about the court papers were available.

Reasons behind the break-up of the two stars reportedly involve an inappropriate e-mail sent to Sambora, according to People magazine. Sources told the mag that the couple had been going through a "rough patch," and then Locklear found a suggestive e-mail sent to Sambora by one of their female acquaintances (who apparently was already a sore subject between them) which included some "provocative pictures." Up until that point, Locklear hadn't thought the woman and Sambora had actually been involved romantically -- but sources reveal that this incident was the final factor in her moving forward with divorce papers.

Sources close to the pair also tell the mag that Sambora claims nothing happened with this woman and he never asked for the photos to be sent.

"Heather Locklear has filed for divorce from Richie Sambora," her publicist told ET. "This is a private matter and there will be no further comment at this time."

Locklear was previously married to another rocker, TOMMY LEE, until 1993.

Watch tonight's ET for more of the rumored Sambora/Locklear reunion!
