It's his life

Women rule the world. It's not really worth fighting because they know what they're doing. Ask Napoleon. Ask Adam. Ask Richard Burton or Richie Sambora. Many a man has crumbled."

That's rocker Jon Bon Jovi, to Elle magazine's Andrew Goldman. I love that Jon included his bandmate Mr. Sambora in his list of fabled men who have "crumbled" before femme fatales. Richie has just split from his wife of 10 years, Heather Locklear. Jon himself has been married to his high school sweetheart, Doreathea, for almost 20 years, and says that although his away-from-home adventures on the road are not the randy rock star "cliche" we might imagine, he does add, meaningfully, "Nobody's dumb in this relationship." Whatever - Jon has maintained his own and his wife's dignity. No easy task.

The still buff and sexy singer insists that at 44, he spends minimal time on his appearance. "Five minutes" on that famous thatch of thick hair. And he laughs over the notorious near-nude Versace advertisements he did a few years back. ("Elton John told me he has all the negatives!") And what about being a gay pin-up? "Some of my best friends are gay guys, and they say, 'You're so straight, we're not even interested!'"
