LOS ANGELES, Feb. 8 (UPI) -- "Provocative" photos a woman e-mailed to Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora were being blamed for his split with his actress wife Heather Locklear.

Locklear filed for divorce in Los Angeles last week -- one day after Sambora was quoted in the media as saying his marriage was strong.

Friends told People magazine the guitarist was not the only one surprised by the end of his 11-year marriage.

"I thought they were the perfect couple," their longtime friend, music journalist Lonn Friend, told People.

A friend of Locklear's, however, said the e-mail and photos from a woman who had long been "a sore subject" was the final straw.

"She's devastated," the friend said of Locklear. "Absolutely devastated."

Another friend told People Sambora did not have an affair with the woman and "he never asked for the pictures."

The couple has a daughter, Ava, 8.
